EQUIPMENT & MACHINERY

Only fully trained technicians may operate machinery unsupervised. The following guidelines must be adhered to at all times:

• All equipment/machinery must be properly secured whilst in transit
• Machines must be cleaned daily at close of business
• Machinery must be used considerately whilst at customers premises

TRAINING

All employees are required to attend and successfully complete an industry recognised training course. This will be followed by a probationary working period to involve ongoing training. Both must cover the following:

• Fibre testing
• Safe use of equipment and machinery
• Health & Safety (COSHH Regulations)

HAZARDOUS SUBSTANCES

All hazardous substances will be clearly marked with a warning label and suppliers instructions. Under the control of substances hazardous to health regulations (COSHH) a risk assessment should be performed on the use of any such substance. Taking the following steps will generally be sufficient:

• Check that using the product containing the hazardous substance is absolutely necessary. If not then switch to a suitable less hazardous alternative.

• Check that the precautions advised by the manufacturer can be adhered to under the circumstances in which they are to be used.

• Ensure staff using the products are aware of the necessary precautions, are correctly equipped with the provision of protective clothing where needed and follow the correct procedures.
